LET’S TALK ABOUT DANCE - The Next Generation
"Let's Talk About Dance - The Next Generation" is an intervention format that not only aims to give the audience a different view of dance art, but also the participating artists. The project initiators Anna Mülter and Sonja Augart aim to introduce young dance artists to versatile formats of communication /audience dialogue in order to broaden the perspective on their own choreographic work.
In the three editions 2015-17 of “Let's Talk about Dance - Feedback Lab Goes Public" the question already arose: how can feedback methods, originally developed for artistic processes, be used for formats /dialogues with different audiences?
In cooperation with Tanztage Berlin, Tanzbüro Berlin, Uferstudios, the Teach Back/ Feedback Lab module of the international network Life Long Burning, and the Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz Berlin (HZT), basic communication/audience dialogue methods and formats were developed.
In 2018, artists who had shown their own work at the Tanztage in previous years were invited to further transform these methods and formats and test them with the Tanztage audience.
For Tanztage Berlin 2019, Augart and Mülter further developed the series of communication/audience dialogue formats under the title "Let's Talk About Dance - The Next Generation".
Inspired by the previous year, the project curator(s) invited three artists. Each participant was given responsibility for two performances, whereby they conceived and directed the respective format. In addition, each artist took on the role of assistant for two formats, and for two others the role of outside eye (observer).
Participating artists:
Rodrigo Gracia Alves, Olivia Hyunsin Kim, Kareth Schaffer, Xenia Tango Dwertmann, Helen Schroeder, Jule Flierl
”Let’s Talk About Dance - The Next Generation“ is a temporary community, a salon, and a laboratory offering participants a practical and theoretical exploration of dance education, together with a real audience that is composed differently every evening.
Sonja Augart teaches the methods and formats, as well as accompanies and supports the artists.
